Women in Music
​Women in Music is a non-profit organization that was created in 1985 in New York to empower, encourage, and educate women in advancing their music careers. Women in Music host education, career development and networking events worldwide that encourage, empower, and celebrate female contributions to the music world. WIM believes that equality is a conversation that is inclusive and that all voices should be heard. The members of WIM are a very diverse groups, including men, women, and non-binary individuals all at different stages in their own careers. They have chapters from Los Angeles, California to Dubai, India. I have included a link to an article by “Rolling Stone” that talks about WIM starting their chapter in India. I posted a third link about WIM announcing a global event series; diversity and inclusion council. This is set to go across 8 countries and 10 cities in the United States.

Girls Behind the Rock Show
​Girls behind the Rock Show is a nonprofit organization that was founded on the principle of empowerment within the music industry. They are dedicated to helping artists and bands drive empowerment and diversity in productive and positive ways and promoting those initiatives throughout the culture of the music scene. GBTRS have three methods of being able to achieve this, first is empowerment. They collaborate with musicians, labels etc. to spread the message of empowerment and inclusion of all genders in the music industry. Secondly, they create opportunities for young women and non-binary people to learn the foundations of the music industry through initiatives. Lastly, they educate and prepare the next generation of women and non-binary people in music through mentorship. GBTRS is currently partnering with Ascentric Magazine to start a mentorship program for aspiring women and non-binary people in the music industry. This is a great opportunity to get voices that aren’t heard to be heard!

Women Crush Music
​Women Crush music is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to create opportunities for women songwriters in the community. Regardless if they are just in the beginning of their career and want to start performing at local venues and having their voice heard, or if they have just released their second album and are ready to go on tour, Women Crush Music wants to connect these artists with future collaborators. As well as educating them about business opportunities and inspire them to make an impact on this male-dominated industry. Over the last 2 and a half years, they have hosted over 200 showcases, educational workshops and networking events across 16 North American cities and have created a community by doing so. In the future they plan on expanding their reach by traveling to new cities by partnering with university music programs as well as growing their blog, The Crush.
